About
The Singapore Flyer will be a sight to behold - a majestic, iconic structure that will afford some of the best views in the region. It is a world-class Giant Observation Wheel which features brilliant engineering breakthroughs a world apart from the traditional ferris wheel. It is the fusion of a state-of-the-art sculpted building with a colossal engineering superstructure, and features the iconic Giant Observation Wheel as its centerpiece.
Located at Marina Bay, an area on the east side of the mouth of the Singapore River, the Singapore Flyer is part of a necklace of attractions along the bay. Two elements, the Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay and One Fullerton, a six star hotel in Singapore already exist. Other attractions like the Integrated Resort (casino) and the Marina Barrage (a dam built across Singapore's Marina channel) are also due for completion. Marina Bay caters to commercial, residential and entertainment developments, in a designer garden city that is situated by the waterfront.
One of the world's largest man-made moving land objects, the cutting-edge giant observation wheel boasts a breathtaking panorama of the southern horizon from 42 stories high. Spanning from Singapore's bustling city to the resort island of Sentosa, and still beyond into parts of Malaysia and Indonesia, this majestic view is a delightful combination of nature's genesis and structured modernity.
To provide the most luxurious overall experience for all visitors, engineers have adopted a more efficient structural geometry as compared to that of the London Eye. They have devised a mechanical structure that allows passengers to enjoy the spectacular skyline without experiencing lateral movement or vibration, but at the same time minimizing the Wheel's steel content to give the impression that the capsules are actually airborne!
